API 16A Oil Well Blowout Preventer triple ram hydraulic operated BOP-Wireline valve
A wireline valve, also know as a slickline BOP, is a manual or hydraulic device containing a valve that closes around the wireline to shut in the well if pressure threatens a blowout. A wireline valve must be used in all slickline operations. Manual rams are most common.
Prior to use, wireline valves should be cycled (opened and closed) to ensure all parts are functioning properly. Each side must be closed or opened with the same number of turns to complete a centered seal. Number of turns should be recorded on the Pressure Control Equipment Inspection.
